Hornets anger at Royals' Smith chase

Rodgers, who quit Vicarage Road after just six months in charge to take over at Madejski Stadium this summer, has made no secret of his desire to take Smith with him and also claims the midfielder wants to make the move. But Hornets chairman Jimmy Russo is less than impressed, and said in a statement: "It is with disappointment that I have read Brendan Rodgers' comments regarding our player, Tommy Smith. "I am somewhat disturbed as to how Brendan knows Tommy's intentions. "His comments are not very respectful to the fans and the staff at Watford, and he must not forget that Watford gave him his first managerial opportunity. "Reading have failed to meet our valuation. Unless we receive the appropriate valuation through the correct channels, then we intend to keep the player at the club. This I can guarantee 100%."
