Foster op hits Hornets
22 Nov 2006 - 10:30:06
Watford have confirmed that on-loan goalkeeper Ben Foster has undergone minor surgery to try and correct a knee injury.
The 23-year-old Manchester United gloveman had to be replaced during the 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth, having been struggling with a knee problem for a couple of weeks.
Physio Andy Rolls told the Hornets' official club website: "Ben Foster has been working exceptionally hard with his knee over the last fortnight.
"He's had a niggle there for the last few weeks and we've been very aware of that.
"Over this period, we've been in constant communication with Manchester United and we felt that by resting from the Middlesbrough game it would sort him out.
"Unfortunately, during the game at Portsmouth on Saturday, his knee semi-locked on him while he was taking a goal-kick and he wasn't happy with how it felt.
"In liaison with Manchester United, he had a minor operation on Monday and has already begun his rehabilitation.
"At the moment it is too early to know when to expect him back, but he certainly won't be ready for next Tuesday's game with Sheffield United."
