Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has tipped Clarke Carlisle to develop into one of the best centre-backs in the Championship.
The 25-year-old arrived from Leeds United in the summer with a reputation as an uncompromising stopper, but Boothroyd insisted there is far more to his game.
"People think Clarke is limited, but he isn't. He just hasn't got going yet," said the Hornets chief.
"He has such enormous strengths to his game. I want to make him into an attacking threat as well as a defender.
"Over time Clarke will achieve that, and become even better than he is now."
