Boothroyd wants Foster stay

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd plans to extend goalkeeper Ben Foster's loan spell at Vicarage Road into a third season.

The Manchester United shot-stopper has already made 59 appearances for the Hornets and helped Boothroyd's side clinch promotion from the Championship, via the play-offs, last term.

He was in the England squad for the midweek friendly against Holland, and Boothroyd said: "I'd like to keep Ben here for another year.

"I've been looking at goalkeepers since last year, because we didn't know whether we'd be able to have him here this season.

"I'm looking at three or four goalkeepers, some in this country and some abroad.

"It's a crucial position, and we'll leave no stone unturned in our efforts to fill it.

"(Second-choice goalkeeper) Richard Lee has also been absolutely first class since he came back from (a season-long loan spell at) Blackburn."
