Boothroyd set for Young fight

Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has vowed to fight off interest in Ashley Young from a host of Premiership rivals unless they match his valuation of the highly-rated winger.

Boothroyd has reportedly already turned down one £5million bid for the England Under-21 international.

Arsenal, Tottenham and a host of other Premiership clubs are believed to be keen on signing Young, but Boothroyd will only sell his prize asset in January if the price is right.

"As it stands today, I absolutely do not see him leaving the club this month," he claimed.

"If and when the time is right he will go, but the price has to be right and it has to improve the club."

Young, who came through the youth ranks at Vicarage Road, has been one of few bright spots for the Hornets this season.

Watford are currently bottom of the Premiership table and ten points adrift of safety.
