Bas Savage sank Walsall with a vital late goal that lifts Tranmere into the League One play-off places. Walsall had hit the bar through Michael Ricketts' volley but Rovers dominated and Saddlers' goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin made a string of high-quality saves. Gilmartin briliantly denied Ian Moore and Ian Goodison, while Antony Kay somehow headed Moore's cross wide.
