Smith set to unleash summer signings

Walsall boss Dean Smith could hand debuts to as many as five new players when they host Tranmere.

Chelsea loanee Milan Lalkovic is expected to start in attack alongside former QPR forward Troy Hewitt.

Ex-West Brom midfielder James McQuilkin will also be hoping for inclusion in the middle and could link up with former Baggies team-mate Romaine Sawyers.

Richard O'Donnell could start in goal after the former Chesterfield shot-stopper joined the club as a free agent in the summer.

Tranmere expect goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams to make the trip.

The Welshman feared he could miss the start of the season due to a knee injury and boss Ronnie Moore revealed he had lined up a loan move for a Barclays Premier League goalkeeper just in case.

However, Fon Williams was back in training this week and expects to line up between the sticks as Rovers look to emulate last season's victory-laden start.

Jason Koumas could feature after rejoining the club on Thursday; however, after not featuring in a professional match for over two years, Moore is hoping to ease the midfielder back in to action.
