Smith to keep the faith

Walsall manager Dean Smith will be hard pushed to make any changes to his side for the visit of neighbours Shrewsbury.

Smith watched his "phenomenal" charges blow away Carlisle 3-0 at Brunton Park on Tuesday night thanks to Will Grigg's hat-trick, putting the Saddlers within six points off the play-off places.

Midfielder Adam Chambers was forced off in the closing stages nursing a slight niggle but is expected to be okay to face the Shrews.

Ben Purkiss and Richard Taundry have both returned to training ahead of the game following respective hamstring and ankle injuries.

Purkiss could well make the bench this weekend but Taundry is likely to have to wait a little longer before breaking into boss Smith's matchday 18.

Shrewsbury midfielder David McAllister is available having seen his midweek red card rescinded.

McAllister was sent off during the first half of Town's 2-1 home defeat to Doncaster on Tuesday night for a challenge on Iain Hume, but a subsequent appeal has been successful and he is free to line up at the Banks's Stadium.

Marvin Morgan is again pushing to start after manager Graham Turner opted to name an unchanged side against Rovers from the one which saw off Stevenage 2-1 last weekend.

Fellow forward Luke Rodgers is also in contention having bagged a brace for the club's Under-21 side in midweek.

Defender Jermaine Grandison (hip) and midfielder Mark Wright (knee) continue to step up their recoveries, although the game is likely to come just too soon.
