Adam Chambers in contention to feature for Walsall against Colchester

Walsall midfielder Adam Chambers will be assessed ahead of the visit of Colchester.

The 34-year-old suffered a knee problem in the Saddlers' 1-0 win at Fleetwood on Tuesday but the club are hopeful he will be fit.

Fellow midfielder Isaiah Osbourne continues his rehabilitation from his own knee injury which has forced him to miss the whole season since joining Walsall in the summer.

Caretaker boss Jon Whitney has been given the job until the end of the season and has won his first two games in charge.

Colchester could have veteran midfielder Darren Ambrose back from injury after he missed the 3-3 draw against Wigan.

Zimbabwean forward Macauley Bonne is expected to be available, despite having to come off during the second half against the Latics.

Defender Frankie Kent is another close to a return, having not been fully match-fit since the end of February.

Centre-back Alex Wynter has been given the all-clear to step up his training following a head injury, but midfielder Sammie Szmodics and striker Marvin Sordell are both out following ankle surgery.
