Saddlers wait on duo

Walsall manager Dean Smith will check on Dean Holden and Ben Purkiss ahead of the visit of Colchester.

Holden (hamstring) and Purkiss (eye) sustained injuries recently which have left them in danger of missing the season finale.

Smith will be desperate to end on a high after a run of five games without a win which has seen them drop from the brink of the play-offs to mid-table.

Amadou Bakayoko, Michael Ngoo and James Baxendale are among Smith's options should he wish to shuffle his pack.

Colchester player-coach Karl Duguid could be given a farewell appearance.

The 36-year-old midfielder has played 475 times during two spells at the club but has not featured since October 2012. He is hoping for a "fairytale ending" at Banks's Stadium.

U's boss Joe Dunne could grant Duguid his wish and make other changes given his side have already secured their Sky Bet League One status.

Midfielder Craig Eastmond is itching for his first start since the beginning of April, while Clinton Morrison and Sammie Szmodics, who scored a hat-trick in Colchester's Youth Alliance Cup success in midweek, are also in contention.
