Saddlers strong for Cumbrians clash

Walsall play host to Carlisle with a fully-fit squad to select from as they aim to record back-to-back league wins for the first time since October.

Boss Dean Smith continues to enjoy the luxury of an empty treatment room as the Saddlers battle for a play-off spot in League One.

Heading into the hectic festive period, Paul Downing and Adam Chambers are each one booking away from their fifth of the season and an automatic one-match suspension.

Last weekend's 1-0 victory at near-neighbours Shrewsbury was Walsall's first success in five attempts.

Carlisle manager Graham Kavanagh is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up as his side chase a third straight win.

The Cumbrians secured their biggest win of the season when beating Tranmere 4-1 last week and Kavanagh has no new selection problems.

Right-back Pascal Chimbonda, who missed out last week, has had a scan on his calf and remains doubtful, while winger Dave Symington is expected to miss the Christmas fixture schedule due to a torn thigh muscle.

Teenage striker Tom Lawrence, on loan from Manchester United, will be hoping to maintain the fine form he showed last week as Carlisle bid for a fourth win in five matches.
