Wacka back in saddle

Walsall have swooped to bring goalkeeper Jimmy Walker back to the club on an initial deal until the end of January. The Saddlers cult hero, known as Wacka by supporters, enjoyed 11 successful years with the midlands club from 1993 until 2004, making 475 appearances. Walker, now 37, enjoyed three promotions before being granted a testimonial shortly prior to his departure to West Ham and then later Tottenham, where he was third choice before being released over the summer. And six years after leaving the Banks`s Stadium, Walker said: "I'm glad to be back. Everyone knows how much I enjoyed my time here. Walsall are a club close to my heart and it's great to be back. Hopefully I can come back and give the place a lift and get the team moving up the table. "Obviously I know Martin O'Connor really well, and Darren Byfield, and I can't wait to get going." Walker is in contention to make his debut at Huddersfield on Saturday, and manager Chris Hutchings said: "He has the experience that we need at this time. He's a strong character and an organiser, the type of person who will get people going."
