Sweeney joins Saddlers

Stoke City midfielder Peter Sweeney has joined Walsall on a two-month loan deal.

The former Scotland Under-21 international has made just six appearances for the Championship club this season and is looking to play more first-team football with the Saddlers.

"The manager made me feel wanted and has confidence in my ability, which makes all the difference," he told the club's official website.

"I am determined to work my socks off for the club and do as well as I can. I just want to get out there and give it 100 per cent.

"I have watched a lot of football at League One level and know that it is a tough division to get out of, but this club is moving in the right direction and I want to be part of it."
