Smith tips Saddlers to survive
Walsall manager Dean Smith backed his team to avoid the drop after they picked up a valuable point in a 1-1 draw at Oldham.A fluke Tom Williams goal had the Saddlers on course for three points but Jason Lowe levelled in spectacular style from outside the box just two minutes from time."Our fate is in our own hands and that's a position we would have taken back in January," said Smith, whose side climbed out of the bottom four."There are still six points to play for and we will continue with the mindset that we aim to win every game."There's a lot of disappointment in the dressing room that we have gone so close but I will take the positives and it is a point gained."We are tough to play against. Other managers always tell me we are a team who work hard and which cannot be underestimated."You could say we had some luck with our goal but we tell the players to aim for the far corner with free-kicks from out wide because they go straight in if nobody gets a touch."
