Smith focus only on Saddlers
Manager Dean Smith insists survival is still in the hands of Walsall despite Saturday`s 3-1 setback at home to Brighton. With all of the teams in the bottom six losing at the weekend, the Saddlers remain clear of the relegation zone by the virtue of goal difference. The battle to avoid finishing in the bottom four seems to be between six sides and the Saddlers currently sit one place above the drop zone. That position is more perilous than it appears, though, given that Smith`s men could be overtaken if third-from-bottom Notts County were to win their game in hand. The boss said: "All the results have gone for us (on Saturday) and we are still out of the bottom four, so it's in our hands at the moment."I am looking forward to the remaining games and the lads have got to stand up and be counted. We need to make sure we are still out of the bottom four come May 7."
