Smith won't set Saddlers point target

Manager Dean Smith refuses to set any points targets for Walsall's survival bid. The Saddlers moved onto 30 points with Tuesday's crucial 1-0 win over relegation rivals Dagenham & Redbridge - putting them within three of safety. Realistically, 52 points is the magic number considered for League One safety, meaning another six or seven wins aided by a smattering of draws could suffice. But Smith said: "I am just taking it game by game. We have 15 games left starting with Colchester away on Saturday. People were saying Dagenham was a massive game for us, but it's a massive game because it was out next game. "The next massive game is Colchester - whether it is Dagenham, Southampton or Colchester it doesn't matter, they are just games in our league that we have to go and win." He added: "All I can concentrate on is our performances at the moment. If we keep performing, we will keep getting results and with results you start climbing the league table. There are going to be teams who have bad runs and it is our job to catch them and go over them. We have gone above Dagenham now and we need to start moving above other teams now."
