Smith rues defensive lapses

Walsall boss Dean Smith felt his side gifted Brighton a 3-1 victory which ensured they sealed the League One title. Goals from skipper Inigo Calderon, top scorer Glenn Murray and Elliott Bennett sealed victory for the Seagulls, who had been pegged back by Andy Butler's header. The Saddlers also had former Brighton player Emanuel Ledesma sent off minutes from the end for a two-footed challenge on Adam El-Abd. Smith said: "I am angry and disappointed because two of their goals came from corners. We have five lads in the box who are over 6 foot and no-one has taken responsibility to head the ball. "Brighton are a good team and ahead of us in the way they play and pass the ball and move, but what is unacceptable is the way we conceded the first two goals, having worked on those things. "We didn`t really play well in the first half but were still in the game. I felt we could have got something from the game, but Brighton are worthy champions."
