Smith keen to build from the back

The Saddlers have managed back-to-back goalless draws against Gillingham and Bury but have failed to score in their last three games, finding the net just five times in seven games in total. Smith told the club's official website: "As a team, we're still getting used to each other at the moment, but we've kept a couple of clean sheets in the last two games and it gives us something to build on." The 20-year-old centre-back has been one of the star performers this term after making his breakthrough last season, winning the young player of the year award and earning a new contract in the process. And he added: "I'm really enjoying my football. I've been pleased with my performances so far and hopefully the results will start to come. "I want to maintain the standards that I have set myself and hopefully help those around me. We know this is a tough league this year but with hard work and dedication anything is possible."
