Smith frustrated with performance

Walsall manager Dean Smith was left disappointed with his team's overall performance in a goalless draw with Rochdale at the Banks's Stadium. The Saddlers dominated before half-time but couldn't finish Rochdale off, the visitors perhaps deserving to extend their impressive unbeaten run to 10 games. Saddlers manager Dean Smith, whose team needed three points to improve their hopes of avoiding relegation, said: "In the first half we were the better team but in the second half it was a mirror image but with Rochdale on top rather than us. "After 20 minutes I said to the bench it was a poor game with no fluency and basic errors being made by both teams. "But we have come away with a point and a clean sheet from it, and if that point keeps us up at the end of the season I'll settle for it. "I thought we looked a bit one paced today and it was disappointing because we gave our fans nothing to cheer about."
