Saddlers swoop for Mattis

Walsall have signed Barnsley midfielder Dwayne Mattis on an initial month's loan.

The 26-year-old has struggled to make a first-team impact at Oakwell since his arrival from Bury in January, having started his career with Huddersfield Town.

Saddlers boss Richard Money told his club's official website: "Dwayne is a player we've been following for some time from his spells at both Bury and Barnsley.

"He's a tall, athletic, box-to-box midfielder and we are looking forward to working with him."

Mattis' arrival at the Saddlers comes a day after midfielder Danny Sonner left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
