Derby County starlet Lee Holmes has joined League One side Walsall on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who made his debut for the Rams at the age of 15, was snapped up after being recommended by Walsall coach Eric McManus, who was the recruitment manager at Pride Park, and was instrumental in bringing the wide-man to Pride Park when he was 13.

Saddlers boss Richard Money is excited at the prospect of working with the England Under-19 skipper.

He said: "When you consider Lee was on the bench in the Premier League over Christmas, you will understand how grateful we are to Paul Jewell for allowing us to have Lee at this time."

Holmes will link up with former Derby team-mates Paul Boertien and Tommy Mooney at the Bescot Stadium.
