Saddlers snap up Brittain
04 Jan 2008 - 12:41:16
Former Newcastle United youngster Martin Brittain has signed for Walsall on a short-term deal.
The 23-year-old right-sided player began his career with the Magpies and made eight appearances before his release in 2006 where he moved to Ipswich Town.
He spent much of the 2006/07 season on loan at Yeovil as the Glovers made the League One play-off final.
Unsuccessful spells at Carlisle and Scunthorpe followed before the Midlands club's intervention.
Saddlers boss Richard Money told the club's official website: "Martin fits our profile perfectly. He's young, has a good pedigree and has had a good upbringing at both Newcastle and Ipswich.
"He's our type of footballer and I am sure that somewhere he will really kick-start his career.
"We hope that we can give him the right environment to do that here."
