Saddlers snub Deeney bids

Walsall have confirmed they have rejected three bids for striker Troy Deeney during the summer. Deeney, 22, hit 14 League One goals last season and his form has attracted interest from Championship sides such as Watford. But manager Chris Hutchings is reluctant to let go of his prized asset and insists that bids have fallen way short of the mark. Hutchings told his club's official website: "We have to have a look at his progress as a professional and a young man who wants to play at a higher level. "If you want to sell your car for £1000 and I offer you £500 you'll tell me to go away. If I offer you £750 you'll say the same. "When i get to £950 I might make you think about it, but at the moment the offers have been rejected and that's the end of the matter."
