The 33-year-old, who was a firm fans' favourite during his first spell at the club between 2000 to 2002, returned to the Banks's Stadium on a short-term deal towards the end of August having been released by Oldham.[LNB]He has since gone on to forge a strong understanding with Troy Deeney, contributing with a host of impressive performances along with five goals in 11 league starts.[LNB]Byfield's current deal runs until the end of January when Walsall have an option to extend his stay until June, and Hutchings acknowledges the fact that is likely to happen.[LNB]"We've got an option on whether we take him up and if he continues to score goals it looks likely we will do, we'd be fools not to," he said in the Express and Star.[LNB]"Darren is pretty much a natural finisher, he works hard at his game and when chances come along you normally want them to fall to him.[LNB]"It (his form) doesn't surprise me, but he's got to maintain it. I knew what he was all about, he's always scored goals at a decent level and that's what we've got him for."[LNB][LNB]
