Saddlers duo set for Saints return

Walsall look to be boosted by the returns of Jon Macken and Reuben Reid for the visit of Southampton but Jimmy Walker remains sidelined. Forwards Macken (calf) and Reid (hamstring) have both been out since late November but the pair were in full training on Thursday and should be in contention to face Saints unless they experience any adverse reactions in the build-up to the encounter. But whether manager Chris Hutchings is willing to make any changes to the side who triumphed 1-0 against high-flying Charlton at The Valley last Sunday remains a different matter. Goalkeeper Walker missed the morale-boosting win with a hamstring injury and Jon Brain will again take his place between the sticks. Darren Byfield remains on track for his new year return from a long-term knee injury.
