Red card was out of character - Hutchings

Walsall boss Chris Hutchings felt Alex Nicholls' dismissal in their 2-1 defeat to Brighton was out of character. Nicholls was given his marching orders in the 72nd minute for violent conduct after clashing with Seagulls defender Tommy Elphick. Goals from Ashley Barnes and Marcos Painter saw Brighton go 2-0 ahead before Jon Macken's late strike gave the Saddlers hope, despite being down to 10 men. Hutchings was left puzzled by the midfielder's red card but insisted he would learn from the incident. He said: "It's unlike Alex to do that kind of thing. It was a rush of blood. "He's got to learn from it and he'll be punished for three games. He kicked out at an opponent and you can't do that kind of thing."
