Mullen plans for Gerrard exit

Walsall is keeping an eye on the loan market, in case key defender Anthony Gerrard opts to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a number of Championship clubs and Mullen is preparing himself for a possible exit.

He told the Express & Star: "I go to games and I have to put names and faces if anything changes.

"I have a list of names in different positions that, if the scene changes, I have to make a decision and go out make a move.

"Anthony has played really well and I accept the fact that he is on the transfer list. I have not had any indication from anyone that that is going to change.

"He is an important part of the squad and, until that changes, I will continue to consider him as a Walsall player."
