Walsall manager Richard Money admitted his side were naive after losing 1-0 to league leaders Swansea City on Tuesday evening.
Ferrie Bodde fired home the long-range winner in the 53rd minute as the Saddlers lost pace with the rest of the play-off contenders.
"Regardless of where they are in the table and how good they are, we were obviously disappointed to come away with no points to show for our efforts," Money told the club's official website.
"Against a team who will not only win this league but also go on to give a good account of themselves at the higher level, we gave it a real go.
"We started the second half well and created a couple of decent chances, but allowed them to get their noses in front and just couldn't find an equaliser.
"We looked a little naive at times, particularly in the first half, and they worked hard without the ball, but we live to fight another day."
