McDonald fitness worry for Saddlers

28 September 2009 16:24
The on-loan centre-back was substituted just six minutes into the second half of Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool feeling under the weather due to a virus, and he is in a race against time to be fit to face the Terriers at the Banks's Stadium. Fellow centre-back Manny Smith did not make the trip to Victoria Park due to a knee injury and he is again doubtful this time around, meaning should he and McDonald not make it, Rhys Weston is likely to partner Mark Hughes at the heart of defence. Winger Peter Till, full-back Richard Taundry (both hamstring) and defender Stephen Roberts (back) also remain sidelined. Striker Troy Deeney overcame an ankle problem to start against Hartlepool while goalkeeper Clayton Ince took his place on the bench having struggled with bone bruising. And both are expected to again be involved this time around as the Saddlers go in search of their first home victory of the season.
