Hutchings to hand Gray role

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has challenged new signing Julian Gray to grab his first-team chance with both hands as he prepares to take on Yeovil Town on Tuesday evening.

The former Arsenal, Birmingham City and Crystal Palace wideman has starred in the recent wins against Leeds United and Brentford and Hutchings now wants him to go for the jugular and help his side grab a further three points against the Glovers at Banks's Stadium.

A win would keep their slim play-off dreams alive as they sit 11 points off Huddersfield Town who occupy the final slot in sixth place.

He said: "We want him to be positive, we want him to get the ball, take people on, create, score and cause havoc for the defenders.

"I've said to him 'I want you to come and play, get in the side, enjoy yourself and take it from there.'

"We know he's got quality, and a big thank you again to the chairman for allowing us to bring him in and to Julian himself, he wants to come and play."
