Hutchings rues `silly slips'

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings felt his side deserved a share of the spoils after seeing them go down 3-2 at Rochdale. Jon Macken gave Walsall an early lead before Josh Thompson and Anthony Elding put Dale in front. Darren Byfield levelled for the visitors, but home skipper Gary Jones settled it from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. Hutchings said: "We deserved at least a point, but we've made two slips in the first half and it cost us. "We conceded two really poor goals and Jon Brain, who has made plenty of saves for us in the past, has made two mistakes and has held his hand up for that. "As for the penalty, some people felt it was in the area, others felt it was outside, but Clayton (McDonald) has gone to ground and made contact and that's disappointing because their player was going nowhere. "We scored early on and had numerous other chances, but if you make mistakes as we did it's going to cost you, no matter who you are playing against because it's difficult to keep coming back into the game."
