Hutchings praises composed Parkin

Parkin was brought down by Southend substitute Lee Sawyer just inside the box and picked himself up to score from the spot. Steve Jones had put the Saddlers in front, but they were up against it when Dwayne Mattis was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 60th minute. Southend were handed a gift by home goalkeeper Clayton Ince, who seemed to change his mind when he was about to throw the ball out to a defender and tossed it to Lee Barnard, who drove it into the back of the net in the 66th minute. Dougie Freedman then put the Shrimpers ahead before Parkin had the final say. Hutchings said: "There was a lot of pressure on Sam because we were down to 10 men and it was so late in the game." He added: "I was delighted with our late equaliser because I didn't think we deserved to lose. In fairness to Clayton Ince, in other games he has pulled off magnificent saves for us. But we are not happy about the mistake."
