Hutchings happy as rot stops

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings was relieved to end a run of five straight defeats with a 0-0 draw at Leyton Orient. In an uneventful game, Orient keeper Jamie Jones made a crucial first-half tip-over from Oliver Lancashire and his Walsall counterpart Jon Brain denied Matthew Spring. Hutchings said: "It is always nice to get a point away from home and a clean sheet. We are thankful for that and the lads are delighted. After one defeat you want to stop the rot, so it was important. "It was always going to be tough down here with Orient coming off the back of a good win against Brentford on Friday and so it proved. I was pleased with the performance and the effort and the organisation. It was a good point at the end of the day. "A clean sheet was long overdue. We have scored goals at the other end. We didn't here but it is always nice to keep them out at the other end." Walsall could have had a penalty towards the end, and Hutchings added: "Will Grigg appeared to be dragged back. I don't know if the referee saw that. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't."
