Walsall manager Chris Hutchings was delighted to see his latest signing Reuben Reid score the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Plymouth at the Banks's Stadium.
The striker joined the Saddlers on loan from Premiership neighbours West Bromwich Albion on Thursday and won the man-of-the-match award.
And Hutchings said: "I was delighted with Reuben's contribution and thought he took his goal well.
"He came in on Thursday and hasn't even had time to get to know the other lads, but he was very good.
"I expected Darren Byfield to play and would have started with Reuben on the bench, but Darren had a sore Achilles so I decided to go with Reuben at the last minute."
