Hutchings hails hard-working Saddlers

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings was pleased with how his side dealt with Brentford's strengths in the 2-1 win at Griffin Park. Julian Gray's second-half goal gave the Saddlers victory after Bees striker Gary Alexander had earlier cancelled out Alex Nicholls` opener. Hutchings said: "Brentford were always a threat from set-pieces and they put us under a lot of pressure at times, just as we knew they would. "We had to defend well and we did that as well as scoring two good goals. Alex Nicholls` goal was a piece of opportunism and the second from Julian Gray was even better. "We knew we had to tighten up after two disappointing games and we did exactly that. Hopefully this win will get us up and running. "Jonny Brain made some good saves, but that is what he is paid to do. I was very pleased with our discipline in the second half particularly, and hope we can build on that performance next week."
