Butler serving Saddlers well

Walsall centre-back Andy Butler feels he has struck up a promising partnership with Olly Lancashire over the last two games. Butler arrived at the Banks`s Stadium as a free agent earlier this month and was paired with summer signing Lancashire for the first time in last Saturday`s much-needed 2-1 home win over Carlisle. A 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday did not tell the whole story on Tuesday as the pair again put in a good performance at the heart of defence, and they will be looking to put things right when the Saddlers head to Torquay in Saturday`s FA Cup second-round tie. Butler told Saddlers Player: "I thought we defended well against Sheffield Wednesday, I think Olly played really well again and he`s shone since he came into the side. "But, what can you say? We defended well and lost 3-0, it looks bad. There`s a few things we need to tighten up on but overall we`ve got to take the positives out of it." He added: "Olly`s a good young lad, he`s willing to learn all the time in training and always there doing extras afterwards. He`s doing well, and Manny (Smith, defender) is there as well keeping us on our toes if anyone slacks, so it`s good competition."
