Boertien set for Saddlers stay

Walsall left-back Paul Boertien is delighted to have been offered a new contract to extend his time with the Saddlers.

The 29-year-old was restricted to 23 appearances for the League One club in his first season at the Bescot Stadium, but Boertien hopes to put further injury problems behind him next term.

He told the Express & Star: "It would be nice to get it tied up as soon as possible really from my point of view.

"All I know is that I've been offered a new deal and my agent is speaking to the club about it at the moment.

"I'm just waiting to hear back and I just want it sorted and then I can look forward to the new season. I enjoyed it at Walsall last season."
