Walsall goalkeeper David Bevan is relishing the competition for the number one jersey this season after recently joining the club on a free transfer. The 21-year-old found chances hard to come by at Aston Villa but is now looking to push fellow new signing Jonny Brain all the way in a bid to become the Saddlers' regular shot-stopper. Bevan is looking forward to developing his career with the League One outfit and is ready to make the most of any opportunities that come his way. "I am excited by this challenge. It's going to be a good experience for me at a nice club," he told the club's official website. "I want to start pushing for a first-team place straight away. "I am a confident lad and a decent shot-stopper and feel that there will be excellent competition between Jonny Brain and myself to be first choice. This is an exciting time for me and an important stage of my career. I am determined to grab the opportunity with both hands and make the most of it." Elsewhere, Sam Parkin, who left the club by mutual consent in May, has joined St Johnstone on a two-year deal.
