WAYNE HENNESSEY: Reclaimed spot after missing the Slovakia game with a back injury and bred confidence with one excellent save to deny Wayne Rooney. 6

CHRIS GUNTER: Reliable shift from the right-back who saw off Raheem Sterling and kept his focus to stop Rose raiding down his flank. 7

JAMES CHESTER: Strong showing from the centre-back who built on his excellent display against Slovakia, always in the right place at the right time. 8

ASHLEY WILLIAMS: Early slip almost led to disaster, won some crucial tackles, but unwittingly set up Jamie Vardy equaliser with misdirected header. 6

BEN DAVIES: Nervous start soon wore off and produced some brave blocks to foil England, got away with penalty claim when ball struck his hand. 7

NEIL TAYLOR: Struggled against Kyle Walker's powerful surges down England right, and when venturing forward his crosses caused few problems. 5

JOE ALLEN: Steady and composed in possession when he could get on the ball but overrun in midfield as England upped the tempo in second half. 6

JOE LEDLEY: First start since breaking his leg nearly six weeks ago, but struggled to make any sort of impact and withdrawn midway through second half. 5

AARON RAMSEY: Able to join the attack in the first half when Wales broke out, covered huge amount of ground and did defensive work well. 7

GARETH BALE: Saw little of the ball in the first half and less in the second, but still came up with free-kick strike which embarrassed Hart. 7

HAL ROBSON-KANU: Recalled to occupy England's central defenders with his extra physical strength and did job well in first half before tiring. 6
