Striker Steve Morison believes Wales still have much to play for in their remaining Euro 2012 qualifiers, if not a place in the finals themselves.
Wales' hopes of reaching the showpiece in Poland and Ukraine next summer were all but written off even before suffering their fourth defeat of the campaign to England on Saturday.
Millwall forward Morison, who is still awaiting his first international goal after five appearances, said: "We are concentrating on the World Cup 2014 at the end of the day. That is what we are aiming for and we have got to use these big games we have got in the group to put things into practice for World Cup qualifying."
He added: "It has still been a really good week.
"Everything Gary Speed has put into place has been superb and hopefully we can carry that through to future games."
Any prospect of a shock Wales win over England at the Millennium Stadium was ended inside 15 minutes as Frank Lampard struck a penalty and Darren Bent doubled the lead.
Wales were outplayed for the remainder of the first half and even though they proved more competitive after the break, a comeback never seemed likely.
Morison added: "It was a nightmare start, a penalty and a sloppy goal. That put us on the back foot straight away.
"Once you go one down after about five minutes - we did let our heads go down for five minutes. They got another goal straight away but for the rest of the game neither goalkeeper had much to do.
"From our point of view, not letting England get any more goals is a positive for us. We kept going, we kept doing what the manager had been asking us to do all week."
