More reasons to start with Morison

Wales manager John Toshack hopes to have found a potent new weapon in Millwall striker Steve Morison.

The London-born forward has accepted an invitation to play for Toshack's side after the Football Association of Wales discovered he qualifies through a grandparent. Late developer Morison, 26, caught the eye last season after being snapped up from non-league Stevenage, scoring 23 goals to help Millwall to promotion from League One.

"Steve Morison is a new name," said Toshack, who on Friday named the new discovery in a 23-man squad to face Luxembourg in an international friendly next week.

"I've known about him for a little while. We would have taken him with us to Croatia at the end of last season had it not been for Millwall's involvement in the play-offs.

"It is a good opportunity for Steve. With due respect to Sam Vokes, Ched Evans and Simon Church, none of them have done enough at club level to hold down one of the Wales jerseys for their own.

"Steve will come in and add more competition."
