George Williams has dropped down to the Wales Under-21 set-up after being omitted from Chris Coleman's senior squad.

Williams, who has won seven senior caps and was part of the Wales squad which reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, was left out of the 23-man party for the World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Georgia next month.

Instead, the Fulham winger currently on loan at MK Dons will link up with Geraint Williams' Under-21 squad for their final UEFA Euro 2017 qualifier in Armenia on October 11.

Wales' hopes of reaching next summer's finals in Poland were ended at the start of September when they picked up only one point from home games against Denmark and Luxembourg.

There are five changes to the squad initially selected for those games, with Williams joined by Swansea pair Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts, Manchester United defender Regan Poole and Barnsley winger Jake Charles.

Joe Wright, Adam Henley, Lee Evans, Ryan Hedges and Wes Burns drop out.

Squad: O'Brien (Manchester City), Crowe (Ipswich), John (Cardiff), Evans (Wrexham), Rodon (Swansea), Roberts (Swansea), Lockyer (Bristol Rovers), Poole (Manchester United), Jones (Everton), Smith (Shrewsbury), James (Swansea), Sheehan (Swansea), Charles (Barnsley), O'Sullivan (Cardiff), Williams (Fulham), Harrison (Bristol Rovers), Wilson (Liverpool).
