Davies out to learn from Coleman

Wales defender Ben Davies hopes to see manager Chris Coleman remain in the job for "a long time" - and Craig Bellamy back in the squad soon.

Ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Scotland at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday and in Croatia next Tuesday, Coleman's men are bottom of Group A after suffering a 2-0 home reverse to Belgium and then a humiliating 6-1 drubbing in Serbia in their opening two fixtures, but Davies has faith in Coleman.

"He is a great manager and we can only learn from him with the experience he has got," the Swansea full-back told Press Association Sport. "Hopefully he will be around for a long time as the squad looks to improve."

After the Serbia mauling, the former Fulham and Coventry boss insisted he was not worried about any "pressure or negativity" aimed towards him.

Wales were without the influential figure of Bellamy in the Belgium and Serbia games and he is missing from the current squad due to a knee injury.

The 33-year-old Cardiff forward's international future is somewhat unclear at the moment, but Davies feels sure Bellamy still has plenty more to offer his country.

"It would be great to have Craig Bellamy involved in the squad," Davies said. "We all know the quality he has got and I'm sure he would add to the team."

In the build-up to the Scotland and Croatia double-header, Coleman has opted to change his captain, passing the armband from Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Swansea skipper Ashley Williams.

Davies is confident his defensive colleague will handle the role well, but has emphasised that Wales always strive to be a team of leaders.

"We are a strong, close-knit squad and whoever has the captaincy will put us in good stead - we are 11 captains out on the pitch, as we have to be," Davies said. "You see week in, week out how he (Williams) does it at Swansea. But everyone has to do their job on the field - it is not down to one person."
