Church enjoying Wales buzz

Reading striker Simon Church is relishing the battle for places in Gary Speed's reinvigorated Wales squad - even if it means he does not feature.

Church now faces a fight with the likes of Craig Bellamy, Steve Morison, Freddy Eastwood, Sam Vokes, Ched Evans and Reading team-mate Hal Robson-Kanu for a place in the team to face England in the Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday and he accepts he may lose out.

The 22-year-old said: "We have got everyone fit, which is a massive bonus for us."

He added: "If you look around we have got Craig Bellamy, Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey - great players.

"We have got competition for places and have got quality in the squad.

"That is what we need and maybe what we haven't had in the last few games.

"That is what is great. The standard and tempo of training is high.

"Everyone wants to play but even if you are not we have got the backing of everyone in the team, which is a really good thing to have.

"There is a real buzz about the place and we are really looking forward to Saturday."
