    Bale sees signs of recovery

    07 Oct 2008 - 08:37:07

Defender Gareth Bale believes Tottenham Hotspur will turn the corner after the international break and ease the pressure on under-fire manager Juande Ramos.

Spurs are currently bottom of the Premier League table after making their worst start to a season in 96 years.

Ramos has come in for criticism after seeing his side fail to win any of their opening seven league games, but reports suggest the Spaniard will be given time after receiving the backing of chairman Daniel Levy.

Spurs' next game is a trip to Stoke City on October 19 and Bale believes their recent performances - a 1-0 home defeat to Hull City on Saturday and 2-0 loss at Portsmouth the previous weekend - show signs of an improvement.

"We're just going to keep working hard in training and see what happens," he told the club's official website.

"We'll come back from the international break refreshed and ready to go.

"We just can't seem to get the ball in the back of the net at the moment.

"But the fact we do seem to be playing better as a team suggests that win will come sooner rather than later.

"I think the key in these games might be to score the first goal because that could settle us down so we can play our own game instead of chasing all the time."
