Aaron Ramsey will continue to shrug off the social media criticism of television personality and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan, according to his Wales team-mate Chris Gunter.
Morgan has 5.6million followers on Twitter and has often used that public platform to criticise Ramsey and his Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
After Arsenal's 3-1 Premier League defeat at West Brom last weekend, Morgan tweeted: "Ramsey sums up this team - spineless, heartless, mediocre. I'd sell him so fast he wouldn't even have time to snub my handshake again."
Morgan tweeted in April 2015 that Ramsey had rejected his offer of a handshake after a goalless draw between Arsenal and Chelsea, saying: "Offered him the hand of peace...but he declined. Fair enough."
Ramsey has also used social media in the past to hit back at Morgan, liking a photograph on Instagram of American president Donald Trump mocking the former newspaper editor.
And Gunter was quick to defend his best friend Ramsey ahead of Wales' World Cup qualifying clash against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Friday.
"Piers Morgan is not in football, is he?" Gunter said.
"Anybody like that you have to separate, especially in this day and age with social media.
"Everybody wants followers, views, likes and this type of stuff. How much is somebody like that just doing it for the attention?
"But this is the way football is now. Look at Wayne Rooney, he gets it.
"He is the all-time scorer for Man United and England. If he gets stick then anybody can."
Morgan's criticism of Ramsey is not the first time he has angered Wales players, management and supporters.
After Wales reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 - the smallest nation to do so at a major tournament - they returned home to a heroes' welcome.
It was estimated 250,000 people lined the streets of Cardiff, but Morgan wrote the celebrations were "over the top".
"There are not too many countries' teams he wouldn't get into and he proved that in the summer on the top stage," Gunter said of Ramsey, who was named in the official Euro 2016 team of the tournament.
"So if he has been getting a bit if criticism of late, just tell Piers Morgan to watch a video of the Euros.
"A couple of years ago when he was scoring every week he was the best player Arsenal had.
"Just because Arsenal are not doing so well, and he is probably doing the same as the team and not playing the best football he has ever played, it does not mean he is now a worse player.
"He doesn't need to prove how good he is to anyone because I have seen it for 16 years.
"You find out very quickly in football that the only people you need to impress are your team-mates and your manager.
"Aaron is completely fine, we speak every day, so it's not something that bothers him."
