Aaron Ramsey focus

Aaron Ramsey scored the first and had a hand in both other goals as Wales beat Russia 3-0 in Toulouse and qualified for the knockout stages of Euro 2016.

Here, Press Association Sport examines the impact of the Arsenal midfielder at Stadium Municipal.

BODY LANGUAGE

Ramsey looked in determined mood from the warm-up, and after joining in with a rousing rendition of Land of My Fathers, the 25-year-old was soon in the thick of the action. Always keen to get on the ball, even in deep positions and was full of industry, which helped create space for Wales' early goal, after which he wheeled away and dropped to his knees in celebration before being swamped in a mass of red shirts. Continued to show plenty of energy as Wales coasted to an impressive victory.

LINK-UP PLAY

Very much a focal point of the transition between midfield and attack, which was evident in the movement which opened up Russia for his goal on 11 minutes. Ramsey was quick to play on shoulder of the last defender as the Russians held a high line, which proved key as he latched onto Joe Allen's pass before coolly beating Igor Akinfeev in the 11th minute. Also had a hand in the build-up to the second goal as well as trying his luck from distance when given time on the ball by an overworked opposition. A clever flick at the edge of the Russia penalty area released Gareth Bale on the overlap to stab in Wales' third.

IMPACT

While the jury may still be out on his new blond hairstyle, the consistent performances of the 25-year-old former Cardiff trainee have been integral, alongside those of Gareth Bale, to first help Chris Coleman's men qualify for Euro 2016 and then step things up another level as they reached the last 16. Even when the match was won, Ramsey continued to harass the Russian midfield, looking to feed off any tired passes to further press home Wales' dominance.
