Pires dismisses referee report

Villarreal winger Robert Pires has refused to accept the referee's report following the Yellow Submarine's weekend defeat against Xerez.

Antonio Rubinos Perez claims that the Frenchman directed derogatory comments towards him following the match.

He now faces sanctions from the Spanish FA after the report was submitted. The former Arsenal man believes it would be an injustice if he was punished.

Speaking to AS, Pires said: "I didn't call him what the referee wrote in his match report. There were lots of people, lots of noise and he could have understood that what I said was an insult towards him.

"Now it seems like I am going to be sanctioned and I don't understand that."
