Fuentes desperate to move on

Veteran Villarreal defender Fabricio Fuentes is desperate to leave the Yellow Submarine in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old Argentinian moved to El Madrigal in the summer of 2006, but has been frozen out of the first-team reckoning this season under head coach Ernesto Valverde.

He told Radio La Red: "I am not being in the consideration of the coach and that's why I am not having enough chances to play.

"I understand that the club wants to recover part of what they have invested in my transfer, but they can't say no to all the offers they receive.

"I don't understand that position of the board members. There had been an offer for me from Atlas from Mexico and they wanted compensation.

"Obviously that made the negotiations fail and it was a good chance for me."
