South Koreas Nam quits Valenciennes for Qatar

South Korean international midfielder Nam Tae-Hee has quit Ligue 1 side Valenciennes for Qatari outfit SC Lekhwiya, the president of the French club Jean-Raymond Legrand said Tuesday.

Legrand confirmed that a deal has been struck between the two clubs for the 20-year-old whose contract had been due to expire in June 2013.

"An agreement was signed. He left Monday morning for a medical visit and everything should be finalised by the end of the week," explained Legrand.

Nam, who arrived at the northern French club in 2009, has failed to find favour with coach Daniel Sanchez and has played just twice since the start of this season.

The young midfielder "wanted playing time and to move closer to his family," said Legrande, adding that he had agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Qatari side.

He joins former Valenciennes players - defender Dame Traore and coach Djamel Belmadi - at the Qatar Stars League champions and could get to play in the Asian Champions League.
